We want our rescued pets to have loving, permanent homes and will do all that we can to match them with the right home and family. Please let us know what you are looking for in a new pet (i.e. personality, activity level, and family compatibility) so that we can help you find the perfect new family member! Pet ownership is a commitment of many years, and you will receive many years of joy and love from your new pet. All of our rescued pets live with a local foster family until their forever home is found. They are all checked by a veterinarian, current on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered and dogs are micro-chipped.
TRAPPER IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN, AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO VA ONCE ADOPTED!
Trapper John is sweet, calm, and very smart. He is about 1 years old and weighs 70lbs. He is quick to learn new commands. Trapper walks well on lead with no pulling, which is a must for larger dogs, sits on command, kennels on command, knows ‘no’, is learning leave it. He is crate trained and will bark to be let out. Whoever had him previously loved and cared for him and taught him excellent manners. Trapper is fostered with other dogs ranging in age from 1 to 15 years and in size from 15 lbs. to 60 lbs. He plays well with the medium and larger dogs. He is too bumbly and active for the little senior (read grumpy) dogs, so all interaction with the littles is supervised. Trapper does not bother them, per se, but he is enormous from their POV. He will not be placed in a home with smaller dogs who might accidentally be injured. He loves water, from the hose or in the kiddy pool. Trapper, although a teenaged puppy, takes cues perfectly from his pack as well as his people. He is very observant. Sometimes his puppy enthusiasm irks the older dogs but he takes ‘criticism’ well, but his response to their correction is spot on. It is pretty clear Trapper was an only dog before being found on the streets, because he focuses 100% on his foster mom when they are out in the yard together. Trapper loves kids. And he loves sticks, balls, riding in the car, the kiddy pool (so I think he would love a real pool) and Benebones! If you love the Labrador breed, Trapper John is textbook in looks and well-balanced temperament. He is smart, happy, and eager to please. A dream dog. He is fully vetted. Vetting includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and all puppy vaccinations. His adoption fee of $600 includes the transport to VA. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Trapper up north to his new family.
